The Grace of the Moon and the Sun—Lessons from a Full Moon Sunrise Hike

No Competition, Just Grace

A few times a year, I lace up my hiking boots before the sun rises and head out with two of my yogi friends. It’s become a ritual—one that’s about more than just movement. These hikes are our time to check in, to share what’s on our hearts, to celebrate each other’s wins, and to offer support in the more challenging seasons.

We’ve been through a lot together—big life changes, struggles, and beautiful moments of growth. And each time, we remind each other: we don’t have to carry it all alone. We’re stronger together.

One morning, as we reached the top of the trail, we noticed something simple yet profound: the full moon slowly setting while the sun gently rose. No battle between the two. No need for one to outshine the other. Just a seamless transition, a graceful exchange of light.

A Lesson in Women Supporting Women

That moment stayed with me. It made me think about the way women support one another—not as competitors, but as space holders, encouragers, and amplifiers of each other’s light.

So often, the world tells us we have to hustlecompeteprove ourselves. But the truth is, we don’t have to dim another’s light for our own to shine. We can rise together. We can be like the moon and the sun, trusting that each of us has a place, a purpose, and a time to be seen.

Stronger Together

This Women’s History Month, I’m reflecting on the power of women walking beside each other, lifting, listening, and holding space without judgment. My sunrise hiking ritual is a small but powerful reminder of that.

So here’s to the women who show up. The ones who cheer us on when we doubt ourselves. The ones who remind us of our strength when we forget. The ones who, just by being themselves, inspire us to keep rising.

May we continue to support, encourage, and uplift one another—because we shine brighter together.

Do you have a ritual or a community of women who uplift you?

Here’s to the strong women in our lives, Carol
